NATO ENSEC COE is pround to present its new compilation of studies - Energy Highlights No. 14

NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence is proud to present the release of its 14^th Compilation of Studies focusing on recent developments in the expanse of world energy. During the recent years the NATO ENSEC COE focused and adapted to ever changing energy environment and has far outgrown its expertise beyond the narrow field it was focusing before, namely the Operational Energy. Therefore in order to express Centre’s broad perspective it is focusing now the new 14^th issue of studies, and from now on the whole series of magazines, has been renamed to “Energy Highlights”.

Please find in the latest Energy Highlights issue studies done by Dr. Jutta Lauf:

• ‘Hydrogen as Fuel: production and costs with a closer look to highly regulated market situations’ - this study aims to present current processes and technologies in which electrolysers are used in hydrogen production besides the costs for installation and operation of electrolyser plants, and to highlight the significant hydrogen role in reducing the use of fossil fuels and mitigating the negative effects of global climate change.
• ‘Replacing NATO F-34: Technologies and economic aspects of using secondary carbon sources for Power-to-Fuel production’ – studies primary goal is to draw attention to carbon dioxide capture technologies from point sources and ambient air, as well as to indicate cost estimates of various combinations of Power to Liquid (PtL) technologies.

 Also the study done by Dr. Reiner Zimmermann and Camille Fourmeau:

• ‘Can military forces do it all? - Climate change, a national energy security issue for Australia and its Defence Force’ – article aims to consider how the nation facing negative consequences of global warming has to face the threats to its national security caused by climate change and focus on climate policies and position on the Paris Climate agreement to understand the impacts on national energy security and the Defence Force.
