Subject Matter Expert of NATO ENSEC COE participated in 11th Baltic Sea Region Forum

On 14 May 2018, Dr. Tadas Jakštas, Subject Matter Expert of the NATO ENSEC COE participated in 11th Baltic Sea Region Forum "Baltic Sea Region Cooperation during Challenging Times" organised by Centrum Balticum Foundation at Turku School of Economics in Finland.

Following a keynote address by his Excellence Mr Timo Soini, Foreign minister of Finland, a panel was organized where security and hybrid threats in the Baltic Sea Region were discussed. Among the panellists there were Dr Tadas Jakštas together with other distinguished guests, such as Ambassador Mr Mikko Kinnunen, Ambassador for Hybrid Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Dr Mika Aaltola, Programme Director of Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Mr Jukka Savolainen, Director of Community of Interest Vulnerabilities and Resilience at HybridCoE, Professor Gary Schaal, Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, Ms Elina Lepomäki, Member of the Parliament of Finland.

The Panel engaged in a broad exchange on the deteriorating security situation of the Baltic Sea region and its key implications for the region. During the discussion Dr Tadas Jakštas emphasized the analysis of grey zone threats against sea lines of communication as well as the security and safety of energy infrastructure in the Baltic Sea Region.
