Students from the Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences visited the NATO ENSEC COE

On the 24th of April, a group of students from the Vilnius University’s Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences visited NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence. Master students of International Relations from France, Germany, Italy and Lithuania were led by Romas ŠVEDAS, Institute’s lecturer of Energy Security course.

At first, students were introduced to the basis and main focus areas of the Centre. Presentation was carried out by Commander Andrea MANFREDINI, Head of Doctrine and Concept Development Division. He talked about the mission and projects that Centre’s team is working on.

To present more concrete examples of work done at the NATO ENSEC COE, Julia VAINIO took the stage. Subject Matter Expert from Strategic Analysis Division (SAD) briefed students with a case example of Baltic De-synchronization process. She presented the threats to Status quo in the Baltic region, its energy dependency issues and other findings made by Strategic Analysis Division team.

A visit concluded with students’ questions and discussion about the main energy challenges that the NATO is facing and how different project and changes can contribute to the resolving of related issues.
