Students and Academics from the College of Europe visited NATO ENSEC COE

On the 8^th of April, NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence was visited by a delegation from the College of Europe, based in Natolin campus (Warsaw, Poland). 26 students and academics visited our Centre as a part of their ongoing study trip to the Baltic region, called “After hybridity: rhetoric and reality of Baltic and European defence and security”.

The post-graduate students from Albania, Algeria, Belgium, France, Georgia, Germany, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom wanted to supplement their European Studies’ curriculum and expand knowledge on the matters of Baltic and EU energy security. They were particularly interested in pipeline politics and electric grids “weaponization” in the age of arising hybrid challenges. NATO ENSEC COE’s experts were glad to welcome our guests at the premises of NATO ENSEC COE and share its expertise.

Lieutenant Colonel Pascal FERNANDEZ presented the NATO ENSEC COE, its main aims and fields of studies. Later on, Subject Matter Expert (SME) Julia Karoliina VAINIO introduced students to the insights of electricity connections in the Baltic region and SME Vytautas Paul BUTRIMAS talked about cybersecurity issues in terms of securing critical energy infrastructure.

I believe that our Centre’s renowned expertise on energy security matters has a lot to offer for students seeking knowledge in this particular field.”, - said Artūras PETKUS, Head of the Centre’s Strategic Analysis Division.
