Romanian Prime Minister and Romanian Delegation visit to NATO ENSEC COE

On the 14th of June the NATO ENSEC COE welcomed a high ranking delegation from the Republic of Romania, headed by H.E Mrs Viorica Dăncilă, the Prime-Minister of Romania and H. E. Mr. Dan Adrian Bălănescu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Romania to Lithuania, and other officials, and diplomats of Romania. They were received by the Director of NATO ENSEC COE Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas and the heads of the NATO ENSEC COE divisions.

The delegation were presented on the major developments and on-going projects that the Centre has conducted in the past and mandated to do in the future. The discussion was also surrounded by recent development in Energy Security of the European Allies, the ongoing Central European Pipeline study and IESMA’18. Moreover during the Q&A session the delegation expressed interest in contributing to the current energy developments, which further the cause of Energy Security of NATO allies and partners. With that in mind they were also informed of the possibility to participate in IESMA’18 and the upcoming Table-Top exercise organised in December by NATO ESNSEC COE and partners, the aim of which is to evaluate and work on preventive measures for Energy Security related risks in the NATO Eastern Flank.

At the end of the meeting the Director kindly invited the Romanian government to consider joining the NATO ENSEC COE, in light of their geographical and geopolitical positioning and the expertise they would be able to provide. The Prime Minister agreed that such cooperation could be considered and expressed her interest in the various activities conducted in the Centre.
