Norwegian umbrella organization “Folk og Forsvar” – “People and Defence” visited NATO ENSEC COE

The NATO ENSEC COE welcomed delegation of Norwegian umbrella organization “Folk og Forsvar” – “People and Defence”.

The main objective of “People and Defence” is, since its establishment in 1951, to work for peace, freedom and democracy. “People and Defence” is an umbrella organisation for several national organisations. As of January 2018 it represents total of 63 member organisations.

Delegation was received by Deputy Director of the NATO ENSEC COE LTC Pascal Fernandez, Head of Strategic analysis division Dr Artūras Petkus and Subject Mater Experts Julia Vainio and Inga Puikevska.

Following a brief presentation about NATO ENSEC COE projects and ongoing tasks, the guests were keen to discuss energy security issues of Scandinavia and Baltic region. The guests were especially interested in Nord Stream 2 project and its possible geopolitical impact and consequences to neighbouring countries and involved parties. Special attention was payed to transnational interconnectors, CEPS, and LNG capabilities.
