NATO Smart Energy Team started its activities

NATO Smart Energy Team (SENT) gathered to its first plenary meeting on the 21-22 January, 2013 in NATO HQ.

SENT is an interdisciplinary ad-hoc steering group under NATO SPE Program, comprising  experts from various relevant fields from six Allied nations (Canada, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, UK and US) and two partner countries (Australia and Sweden), who were chosen for their experience and involvement in already existing energy efficiency projects.  Lithuania and Sweden are co-directors of this project. Lithuania in SENT is represented by Ms. Rasa Pazarauskiene, Expert for Concept and Doctrine development, NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence.

Within the period of two years SENT will explore national and multinational activities related to energy efficiency in the military and environmental protection and deliver a package of proposals for concrete Smart Defence projects and SPS activities aiming to advance Smart Energy solutions and enhancing standardization and interoperability in the area of military energy efficiency.

SENT will take into account the cross-cutting character of Smart Energy by pooling the work of relevant NATO bodies, committees and groups, relevant COEs.  Coherence in the acquisition and provision of S&T advise will be ensured through the structured cooperation with Science and Technology Organization and NATO Chief Scientist.
