NATO Lessons Learned Conference

NATO ENSEC COE subject matter expert MAJ Remigijus Zilinskas represented NATO ENSEC COE at the annual Lessons Learned Conference, which was held from 22 to 24 October 2013 at the Portuguese Military Academy, Lisbon, Portugal.

The principal aim of the conference was to provide a forum for the exchange of information for NATO and COE’s Lesson Learned Community of interest. The emphasis was put on the need to consolidate lessons, sharing and learning. Indeed, it can be considered that NATO needs to improve the information flow between NATO as well as non-NATO entities. Hence, the new NATO Lesson Learned Portal, which was established by the JALLC, shall become the cornerstone of information sharing within NATO’s framework.

Following the 2013 NATO LL conference, a COE NATO Lesson Learned meeting session was held in Lisbon, Portugal on 25 October 2013. The overall aim of this session was to lay down the basis for strengthening the coordination between NATO and COE’s. It was considered that COE’s shall raise their awareness in terms of Lesson Learned by using the new NATO Lesson Learned portal to increase sharing Lesson Learned. Moreover, it was stated that COE’s should be more active players NATO’s Lesson Learned Community of Interest.
