NATO ENSEC COE Steering Committee meeting took place in Rome

The 4th Steering Committee meeting was arranged on February 19-20 in Rome (Italy). Representatives from all sponsoring nations of the NATO ENSEC COE, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, France and Turkey, participated in the Steering Committee meeting. In addition, representatives from Georgia and the United Kingdom participated as observers.  The meeting was chaired by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mr Andrius Krivas.

The main topics of the meeting were NATO ENSEC COE enlargement process and partnership activity, Programme of Work of NATO ENSEC COE for 2014.

The Steering committee approved on enlargement of NATO ENSEC COE - the United Kingdom has expressed the will to join the Energy Security Centre of Excellence.

The 4th NATO ENSEC COE Steering Committee meeting was organized in the “De Cicco” barrack, inside the Città Militare della Cecchignola in Rome with the support of the Italian Defence General Staff – III Division/ Italian Defence Innovation Centre (CID).

After the Steering Committee meeting, on the 20th February the NATO ENSEC COE staff had a productive meeting at the Italian Navy General Staff HQ concerning alternative fuels/green diesel in the framework of Energy Efficiency and Green Defence.

On the 21th February the NATO ENSEC COE personnel visited the NATO Modeling & Simulation Center of Excellence. An informative briefing and the tour in the facilities gave an excellent opportunity to show the Modeling & Simulation COE capabilities for possible cooperation and support from NATO Modeling & Simulation COE in some projects.

A visit to the Quirinale, the marvelous Italian President of Republic residence was also organized.
