NATO ENSEC COE representatives in TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018 Exercise - presenting Energy Efficiency solutions

From 25th October to 7th November in Norway around 50,000 participants from NATO and partner countries are testing their ability to respond to any threat and work together in NATO's biggest exercise in recent years – TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018.

NATO ENSEC COE representatives participate in this exercise as well, by presenting for use the deployable modular Hybrid Power Generation and management System (HPGS).

The HPGS is a mobile energy generation and management system that is modular, simple to deploy, and can supply electrical energy as a completely independent source of energy or by being implemented into an existing energy infrastructure. The HPGS is a prototype, developed and delivered with Canadian funding. At the moment, it is in use by the Logistics Battalion of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in order to improve its use as much as possible during all possible main exercises and activities, to further demonstrate the energy efficiency attributes of a hybrid systems.

Near future plans for HPGS to be presented and used:

  • October-November 2018: TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018 Exercise, Norway.
  • 14th-16th November 2018: Exhibition IESMA 2018, Vilnius
  • December 2018 - April 2019: Test in extreme temperature, requested by Canadian Government.
  • May-June 2019: CAPABLE LOGISTICIAN 2019 Exercise, Poland.

TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018 - NATO armed formations train in specific conditions of the Norwegian coastline. The troops apparently practice in demonstrating excellent cyber, land, sea and air potential. Trident Juncture includes around 65 ships, 250 aircraft, 10,000 vehicles and bodies from all 29 Allies, also from NATO partners Finland and Sweden. The exercise reflects the greatest adaptation of collective defence, as well as it is considered as a response to a changed security situation.
