NATO ENSEC COE representatives delivered their findings in the Wind Energy Seminar via VTC

Today the representatives of the NATO ENSEC COE participated in the seminar hosted by the Estonian Ministry of the Economic Affairs and Communications in co-operation with WindEurope Aviation Taskforce and the NATO Energy Security Center of Excellence in the framework of 3 Baltic energy co-operation chaired by Estonia in 2020. Different case studies about the wind farms development and the military radars co-existence were presented.

WindEurope Aviation Group TF representatives gave an overview how the interference issue of more effective and taller wind turbines have been solved in their country. The Director of the NATO ENSEC COE, COL Romualdas PETKEVIČIUS, introduced the work so far done by the COE in the domain of renewable energy. Thereafter the Subject Matter Expert of the NATO ENSEC COE, Ms Marju KORTS, presented her onshore wind energy study: “Role of wind farms for national grids – challenges, risk and opportunities for energy security”. The presentations were followed by the remarks by the representatives of DG ENER and EDA.

The event attracted participants from United Kingdom, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany and France.
