NATO ENSEC COE at the "Regional Risks and Risks to the Regions" conference and workshop

The Director of the NATO ENSEC COE Col. Gintaras Bagdonas and team of Fellows of the NATO ENSEC COE Maj Ion Iftimie and Dr Gintaras Labutis participated in the International conference and workshop "Regional Risks and Risks to the Regions" on the 30-31st of January in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The conference is part of an international project-initiative to strengthen the ties between the nine northern countries in the area of emerging threats, risks and security governance for the countries that have become the northern frontier of the European Union. This initiative is aimed at the development of the response of various countries and stakeholders to new and developing situations, as well as the furthering of the discipline of Risk and Security Governance: "to develop interdisciplinary curricula on risk and security studies that will be integrated in the study and training programmes of the Baltic-Nordic academic institutions".

The participants from the NATO ENSEC COE introduced the intricacies of regional Energy Security and emerging societal risks, with a special consideration towards the role of NATO in providing assistance in Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection.
