NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence held its 20th Steering Committee meeting

On 7^th of June the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (NATO ENSEC COE) held its 20^th Steering Committee (SC) meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. 12 NATO member and partner states representatives participated in it. The representative of Ukraine couldn’t participate in this meeting due to Russia-Ukraine war.

The SC meeting was chaired by the Vice-minister of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas. The chairman welcomed the participants of the SC meeting. 

During the meeting NATO ENSEC COE director COL Darius Užkuraitis presented Centre’s mission, growing demand for support and SWOT analysis. Deputy Director LTC Christophe Nave overviewed the periodic assessment outcomes and recommendations conducted on 30-31 March 2022 by the NATO Supreme Allied Command Transformation team. Heads of the Divisions presented the current status of ongoing projects.

SC members agreed to continue discussion due to NATO ENSEC COE Periodic Energy Security Assessment issue during the next SC meeting.  

It was the last SC meeting for the Deputy Director LTC Christophe Nave. On this occasion the Vice-minister of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas personally thanked for his highly valued and appreciated contribution to the Centre’s activity.

At the end of the meeting SC members approved the decision sheet.

The NATO ENSEC COE was established on 10^th of July and accredited on 12^th of October, 2012. Currently it operates as a widely recognized international military organization with the aim of providing qualified and appropriate experts advices on questions related to operational energy security.

The mission of the NATO ENSEC COE is to assist Strategic Commands, other NATO bodies, nations, partners, and other civil and military entities by supporting NATO’s capability development process, mission effectiveness, and interoperability in the near, mid and long terms by providing comprehensive and timely subject matter expertise on all aspects of energy security. The mission includes cost effective solutions to support military requirements, energy efficiency in the operational field, and interaction with academia and industry.
