NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence held its 18th Steering Committee meeting

On 8^th of June the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence held its 18^th Steering Committee meeting, which took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Due to COVID-19 pandemic challenges the meeting was held in virtual environment and united the delegation of 14 NATO member and partner states. The Steering Committee meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mr. Egidijus MEILŪNAS. Deputy Minister welcomed the active development of the Center and congratulated the new member – Ukraine. Since Centre’s establishment in 2012 the number of member states has doubled. Poland is also in the process of joining in the near future.

During the meeting the projects implemented by the Centre for 2020-2021 were reviewed, new initiatives and the budget were approved. The Steering Committee Chairman was also pleased that despite the challenges of the COVID-19 the Centre works effectively on energy security issues and also implements projects on such relevant topics as the impact of climate change on energy security and increasing the Allies' resilience to hybrid attacks.
