NATO ENERGY SECURITY Center of Excellence

Internship opportunities at the NATO ENSEC COE

Starting from 2013 the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence is providing a limited number of internships to young researchers from universities and research institutes. This internship programme will promote the respective work of young academics and professionals from NATO member states and partner countries.

Interns will be given the opportunity to establish stronger links with research networks and thereby feed their views into the energy security debate on such topics as the development of renewable energy sources, improved use of traditional resources, promotion and application of energy innovations, security of supply, etc. The main responsibilities of interns will be to analyze relevant energy security events and processes, assist the research team and complete certain administrative tasks (the last will not entail more than 20% of the time they spend at the Centre). The most important duties will consist of contributing to the NATO ENSEC COE research projects, monthly analytical briefs (“Operational Energy Security Highlights” and “Energy Security Forum”), organizing seminars and communicating with NATO ENSEC COE partners. Particular research directions on which the interns will be asked to focus their analytical work are:

  • Military application of energy innovations
  • Securing the critical energy infrastructure
  • International cooperation in the field of energy security

Starting from Winter 2014 internship opportunities with a preliminary duration of 4 months will be offered 3 times per year. The exact terms of each internship may be negotiated separately depending on particular circumstances, including the current workload or preferences of the intern. Please note that NATO ENSEC COE does not provide any accommodation or monetary compensation for the incoming interns.

  • Potential candidates interested in this opportunity are welcome to submit their CVs, motivation letters and application forms until the  29th of August 2016 (e-mail adress: info@enseccoe.org)
  • Selected candidates will be informed individually by the 6th of September 2016.
  • When approved, interns are expected to start their work at the Centre by the end of September, 2016.

We are looking forward to building close relationships with ambitious researchers possessing a solid work ethic and a strong commitment to professional growth. If you think you are up to the task, do not hesitate to take this opportunity to join our team and engage in mutually beneficial cooperation with NATO ENSEC COE.
