High level Danish diplomatic delegation visited NATO ENSEC COE
On the 22nd of October, the NATO ENSEC COE welcomed honourable guests from the Embassy of Denmark to Lithuania. Delegation was headed by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Lithuania H.E. Hans Brask. The Ambassador was accompanied by the Danish Defence Attaché to the Baltic States Colonel Niels H. Johansen.
The guests were greeted by the NATO ENSEC COE Director Colonel Romualdas PETKEVIČIUS, Deputy Director Lieutenant Colonel Christophe NAVE and representatives from all divisions of the COE. NATO ENSEC COE Director gave a briefing about the Centre, current and upcoming projects, studies and research works done by the COE subject matter experts. MAJ Scott SERKIN, the Head of the Education, Training and Exercise Division, presented conducted workshops and Energy Security Awareness Courses which are prepared by the NATO ENSEC COE for military and civilian personnel. Doctrine and Concept Development Division Head LTC Andrea MANFREDINI discussed main challenges on ENSEC domain and how COE is approaching them. Dr. Artūras PETKUS, the Head of the Strategic Analysis Division, presented several ongoing studies and their importance at the strategic level. Subject matter expert Mr. Vytautas BUTRIMAS presented Research and Lessons Learned Divisions main studies and reports, highlighting most significant one “NATO Central European Pipeline Study”.
The overall aim of the meeting was to introduce guests with the Centre’s organizational structure, main mission, past and ongoing projects which include events on a wide variety of energy matters, as well as strategic awareness courses and conferences organized by the COE, also discuss possible cooperation on ENSEC projects and exchange ideas.
Having recently held an election, Denmark’s new Government is prioritizing energy issues in its political agenda. This essentially reveals the potential in cooperation with the NATO ENSEC CEO in matters of energy security and efficiency.
