General Jonas Žemaitis military academy cadets visited NATO ENSEC COE

On the 3rd of May, the NATO ENSEC COE Director Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas delivered a lecture ‘The Role of NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Advancing NATO’s Energy Security Agenda’ to students of General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy, invited by Dr Gintaras Labutis, fellow of the Doctrine and Concept Development Division.

The cadets and non-commissioned officers were acquainted with the wide and complex notion of energy security and its importance to modern hybrid warfare. Also the students were briefed on NATO’s organizational structure, decision making process, and activities.

In the second part of the presentation, the Director connected the discussed topics with an introduction of the NATO ENSEC COE – its main mission, activity field, future development plans, and successful projects. The guests had a specially heightened interest in the Hybrid Power Generation and management System (HPGS). The lecture was concluded with interesting questions and insights from the students, which led to a discussion on the region’s energy security, possible threats, and its assessment.

This lecture was a strong statement and a commitment of NATO ENSEC COE to share the knowledge and raise awareness of the energy security related topics to allies, and further deepen the cooperation and friendly relations between the COE and Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy.
