French Ambassador and Defence Attaché visited NATO ENSEC COE

On April 16th, the NATO ENSEC COE welcomed honourable guests from the Embassy of France to the Republic of Lithuania. Delegation was headed by French Ambassador H.E. Claire Lignières-COUNATHE. Ambassador was accompanied by French Defence Attaché Colonel Stéphane LOECHLEITER.

Ambassador and Defence Attaché were greeted by the NATO ENSEC COE Director Colonel Romualdas PETKEVIČIUS, Deputy Director Lieutenant Colonel Pascal FERNANDEZ and representatives from all Centres divisions.

French delegation was introduced to the Centre’s structure, mission and main studies as well as each Centres divisions main ongoing projects. Guests were particularly interested in Centre’s work and the development of energy efficiency solutions in military environment, such as a Hybrid Power Generation and Management System (HPGS) which was co-developed by experts from Doctrine and Concept Development Division (DCDD). HPGS was presented by DCDD representative Subject Matter Expert Ms Vitalija PETRONĖ. Also, Ambassador and Defence Attaché were introduced to the ongoing study of the Central European Pipeline System (CEPS) which is conducted by the Research and Lessons Learned Division Subject Matter Expert Mr Vytautas Paul BUTRIMAS. Later on, Dr Artūras PETKUS, the Head of the Strategic Analysis Division, and MAJ Scott SERKIN, the Head of the Education, Training and Exercise Division, presented conducted academic studies and Energy Security Awareness Courses which are prepared by the NATO ENSEC COE for military and civilian personnel.

Centre‘s Director Colonel Romualdas PETKEVIČIUS expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and emphasized that common goals and projects could not be finished without combined efforts and coordinated actions to which France has largely contributed. Director also mentioned Centres organised this years flagship conference on climate change, defence and energy security which is about to be held in Paris this autumn. French Ambassador H.E. Claire Lignières-COUNATHE gladly offered French embassy’s assistance in the preparation of this event.
