Finnish National Defence Course alumni visited NATO ENSEC COE
On Friday the 25th of May, NATO ENSEC COE had the opportunity to welcome a group of Finnish National Defence Course alumni to its premises. The visit was part of a larger trip organized by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence. The delegation was headed by General Jarmo Lindberg, the current Finnish Chief of Defence, and accompanying them was LTC Antti Hauvala, the Defence Attaché of Finland for the Baltic States. They were met by COL Jean-Marc Bouillet, the Deputy Director and representatives of the Divisions of the NATO ENSEC COE.
The experts of the COE gave an overview on the functioning and relevant tasks of the COE as well as its main competences and future projects. The visitors paid special attention to the activities in the Baltic Sea Region especially the ones that concerned critical energy infrastructure protection.
National Defence Courses are an annual event aimed at improving the collaboration between different sectors of the society in conflict situations. The selected participants have an equal representation of gender, different sectors of society and different regions in Finland. The National Defence Course is part of the concept for comprehensive security that Finland abides by.
