EU FRONTEX officers visited NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence
On the 24th of May the NATO ENSEC COE welcomed a group of FRONTEX officers as part of their module on “Strategic Risk and Threat Management for European Border Security” during their one week stay in Vilnius. They were received by an SME of NATO ENSEC COE Julia Vainio, who delivered a lecture to the officers of the EU Agency.
Ms. Vainio acquainted the group with NATO’s commitment to the energy security questions as well as the COE’s functions and mission. The lecture also focused on today’s challenges relevant to energy security matters, such as the issue of hybrid threats, energy diversification, Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection, and the work which is done by the COE’s personnel to counter them.
The audience was interested in questions pertinent to their line of work – energy infrastructure and supply routes out and into the EU. Furthermore they sought to gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of the Centre, showing interest in sharing knowledge with their colleagues.
