ENSEC COE was visited by delegation from USEUCOM and SHAPE JENG
On the 23rd of May, delegation from United States European Command (USEUCOM, Stuttgart, Germany) and Supreme Headquarter Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE, Mons/Belgium) Joint Engineering (JENG) Division visited NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (ENSEC COE). This visit, initiated by SHAPE/JENG, strengthened ties between our organizations which have mutual interests on Energy matters.
NATO ENSEC COE representatives provided an overview of the COE’s mission, the various activities and future challenges. SHAPE presented the NATO strategic overview on Energy Security. USEUCOM/J4 presented an assessment on TIF and challenges in Europe about Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection.
This first exchange has been very useful and was a very good opportunity for the three organizations to share knowledge and common interests. Regarding the increasing interest of Allied Command for Operations (ACO) for ENSEC and as Requirement Authority, SHAPE will have to coordinate with Allied Command for Transformation (ACT) and NATO HQ the priorities tasked to NATO ENSEC COE. EUCOM proposed its support to SHAPE and ENSEC COE in all domains of strategy, knowledge and technical.
All participants agreed to meet in the future once a year in an alternative location.
