Energy Security in operational framework course held in Lithuania
On 14-17th June, the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence held an Energy Security in operational framework course in Nemenčinė, Lithuania. Around 15 participants from 9 countries have finished the course and received certificates.
„This course is very important for military and the growing interest is only a prove of that. I am happy that we had participants from very different NATO and partner nations“, – said the Director of the NATO ENSEC COE Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas.
The Energy Security in Operational Framework Course was offered by the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in cooperation with the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. This was the first course on the subject. The course fulfiled the need for an operational focus on planning considerations of Energy Efficiency and Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection (CEIP). Furthermore, it offered a venue for sharing best practices and discussing areas where NATO can provide added value, such as smart energy solutions in support of operational needs, the role of cultural change in enhancing energy efficiency in the military, and evaluating the impact of a critical infrastructure in energy sector on a military operational planning.
The aim of this course is to raise awareness on importance of Energy Efficiency and Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection, by developing a common understanding of influence of Critical Energy Infrastructure on operational planning and value of Energy Efficiency in operational framework.
The course had particiapnts from Lithuania, Canada, the United States of America, Germany, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, Estonia and Greece.
