NATO ENERGY SECURITY Center of Excellence

Delegation from Baltic Defence College visited NATO ENSEC COE

NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence was visited by delegation from Baltic Defence College (BATLDEFCOL). The delegation was headed by Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis DILĀNS, accompanied by Dean of BALTDEFCOL, Dr. Zdzisław ŚLIWA. The meeting was joined by the Commandant of Lithuanian Military Academy, Colonel Juozas KAČERGIUS, and his deputy, Colonel Darius VAICIKAUSKAS.

The guests were received by NATO ENSEC COE Director, Colonel Romualdas PETKEVIČIUS, together with Deputy Director, Lieutenant Colonel Pascal FERNANDEZ, together with the Division Heads of the NATO ENSEC COE.

Discussions were extensive as both educational institutions and NATO ENSEC COE have many common interests. The meeting was concluded with several proposals – to further exchange various Subject Matter Experts in order to strengthen expertise sharing and to support ongoing projects; to support each other and provide articles for BATLDEFCOL publication “Journal on Baltic Security”; and to further cooperate on Operational Level Energy Security Course, which is the first NATO accredited course in BALTDEFCOL.

The aim of the Operational Level Energy Security Course is to provide students with knowledge of the importance of energy and energy security in the current geopolitical environment and their influence on military operations. NATO ENSEC COE significantly contributed by creating this course and received NATO accreditation to be conducted at BALTDECFOL.

BALTDEFCOL is an English-speaking international institution of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania providing professional military education at the operational and strategic level for military and civilian leaders of the Baltic states, their allies and partners. The college conducts applied research, hosts and co-hosts conferences and seminars and offers a fellowship programme.
