„Core21-Baltic” tabletop exercises started in Vilnius

On the 20^th of September in Lithuanian military academy (Vilnius) the NATO Energy security center of excellence (NATO ENSEC COE) started „Core21-Baltic” tabletop exercises (TTX). The training will last until the 24^th of September. 36 institutions from 12 countries have sent more than 100 delegates to participate in it. The lectures and TTX will be held in Lithuanian military academy and the Distinguished visitors day will be organized on the 24^th in the Presidential palace of the Republic of Lithuania.

The exercises are focused on support national authorities and electricity system operators to mitigate the possible disruption of electricity supplied to civilian and military consumers in the Baltic region due to vulnerabilities caused by close proximity of unsafe nuclear power plant and the process of synchronization of the Baltic States electricity network with Continental Europe.

The NATO ENSEC COE was established on 10^th of July and accredited on 12^th of October, 2012. Currently it operates as a widely recognized international military organization with the aim of providing qualified and appropriate experts advices on questions related to operational energy security.

The mission of the NATO ENSEC COE is to assist Strategic Commands, other NATO bodies, nations, partners, and other civil and military entities by supporting NATO’s capability development process, mission effectiveness, and interoperability in the near, mid and long terms by providing comprehensive and timely subject matter expertise on all aspects of energy security. The mission includes cost effective solutions to support military requirements, energy efficiency in the operational field, and interaction with academia and industry.
