„Coherent Resilience 22-Georgia” tabletop exercise was held in Georgia

From 27th of June till 1st of July the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (NATO ENSEC COE) held „COHERENT RESILIENCE 22-Georgia” tabletop exercise (TTX) together with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. On the last day of the TTX it was organized the Distinguished visitors day.

The TTX was organized with the support and participation of the European Commission Joint Research Centre, Naval Postgraduate School (USA), NATO Centre for Excellence in Strategic Communications (Latvia), Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (Bulgaria) and Regional Cyber Defence Center (Lithuania). More than 100 delegates from 4 countries and 23 institutions participated in it. During the TTX training audience was divided into the 4 syndicates: Critical Energy Infrastructure Resilience, Crisis Response, Cyber Security and Strategic Communication.

The aim of the TTX is to support Georgia’s national authorities and energy sector organizations through academic seminars and discussion-based exercise to assess and enhance the resilience of electricity and gas systems against hybrid threats and improve their readiness for various emergencies to ensure timely implementation of appropriate mitigation and recovery measures.

The exercise planning began in the fall of 2021 and was conducted in several phases. The Initial Planning Conference was held from 6th till 9th of December 2021 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Main Planning Conference was held from 28th of February till 2nd of March 2022 on a virtual platform. The Final Coordination Conference was held on 9th of May 2022 on a virtual platform. The Post Exercise Discussion is scheduled to take place in the fall of 2022.

The NATO ENSEC COE was established on 10th of July and accredited on 12th of October, 2012. Currently it operates as a widely recognized international military organization with the aim of providing qualified and appropriate experts advices on questions related to operational energy security.

The mission of the NATO ENSEC COE is to assist Strategic Commands, other NATO bodies, nations, partners, and other civil and military entities by supporting NATO’s capability development process, mission effectiveness, and interoperability in the near, mid and long terms by providing comprehensive and timely subject matter expertise on all aspects of energy security. The mission includes cost effective solutions to support military requirements, energy efficiency in the operational field, and interaction with academia and industry.
